Launching central York’s first full fibre challenger brand: Fastr Broadband

The Challenge

When the company first approached us, it was called UK Fibre Networks and was starting to build its full fibre network in York city centre. Its brand-new network would mean around 8,000 homes and businesses stuck on ageing copper would benefit from a future-proof fibre optic broadband connection. The technology was top-notch, but the brand and messaging let it down. To launch from a standing start against the big telecom’s names, the company needed a brand and a voice that genuinely resonated with a York audience, backed by hyper-local PR and relationships to bring it to life.

Our Solution

We started with recommending a full rebrand. We helped transform UK Fibre Networks into Fastr Broadband, a confident, fun, local challenger, and developed the messaging to match. From there, we’ve carried that voice across every channel, through the PR launch, website content and an ongoing programme of social media and marketing.

A big part of our work champions the local businesses already benefiting from Fastr, from cafés and bars to solicitors and estate agents, turning real York success stories into case studies and content that resonates across the city. We use our local networks to open doors and keep educating people on the benefits of full fibre, which is genuinely the fastest broadband available in the city centre right now.

The Outcome

The rebrand, PR programme, regular case studies and social campaigns have built real momentum for Fastr across York. Monthly website users have grown fivefold over the year, with social media doing the heavy lifting on reach and sending a steady flow of people through to check availability and register. Fastr now has a recognisable local voice and a consistent stream of prospects. And there’s more to come with a multi-channel campaign in the planning.

“Intandem understood York from day one. They didn’t just rebrand us from UK Fibre Networks to Fastr, they gave us a voice that actually sounds like the city we’re serving. From the launch through to our ongoing social and marketing, they’ve championed local businesses brilliantly and helped us build real recognition across York. They feel like part of our team.”
